India’s players put on a great show on Wednesday (November 13) in the third T20I of their four-match series against South Africa, winning by 11 runs. Playing at SuperSport Park in Centurion, India scored a high total of 219 runs, thanks to Tilak Varma’s first-ever T20I century. They then defended the target, keeping South Africa to 208 for 7 in 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for India, while Varun Chakravarthy sent two South African players back to the pavilion.

India won the third T20I by 11 runs, taking a 2-1 lead in the series. During the match, India also set three important T20I records.
India’s win over South Africa on Wednesday was their 164th win out of 241 T20I matches. This also made India the second team after Pakistan to win 100 T20I matches away from home.

In the third T20I, Indian batters hit 13 sixes, making them the first team ever to hit 200 sixes in T20s in one year. India’s total of 219 runs in this game was also the eighth time they scored over 200 runs in T20Is in 2024.
This set a new record for the most 200+ scores in one year, beating the record of seven 200+ scores held by Birmingham Bears in 2022, India in 2023, and Japan in 2024.
Tilak Varma scored a century for India in the third T20I, making India the third team in the world to have five individual centuries in one year. Indian batters also scored five centuries in 2023, and RCB hit five centuries in the 2016 IPL season.

In the third T20I, India had a rough start when Sanju Samson was out for zero runs after just two balls, bowled by Marco Jansen. This was the second time in the series Jansen bowled out Samson.
With this, Samson matched the world record for the most times out for zero in T20Is in a single year, with five ducks in 2024. Zimbabwe’s Regis Chakabva first set this record with five ducks in 2022.
