India's fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, is set to return to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy after recovering from an injury. The Cricket Association of Bengal announced that Shami will play in the match against Madhya Pradesh in Indore, starting on Wednesday, November 13.

Shami last played for India in the World Cup final in Ahmedabad in November 2023. His return was delayed because of a long recovery process. He initially had surgery for an Achilles heel injury and later faced another setback when he had knee swelling. Shami recently practiced at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru during India’s Test match against New Zealand, preparing for his comeback.

Shami’s return is positive news for India as they head to Australia for a five-match Test series starting November 22. Last month, captain Rohit Sharma said they hoped Shami would be fit for part of the tour. While Shami isn’t in the announced Test squad, he might join if he’s fully fit.
