Former Indian cricketer and selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth has suggested that if Rohit Sharma struggles in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, he might retire from Test cricket on his own before the selectors have to make a tough decision.

On his YouTube channel, Srikkanth commented on Rohit Sharma's form, saying, "If India doesn’t perform well in Australia, we definitely need to think about the future. If Rohit doesn’t play well, he might choose to retire from Test cricket himself and focus only on ODIs, as he’s already stepped away from T20Is. We also need to remember he’s getting older."

Rohit Sharma set to meet BCCI officials after series loss to New Zealand-

A recent PTI report says that an informal meeting is planned between BCCI officials, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, coach Gautam Gambhir, and captain Rohit Sharma to discuss the future direction of the Indian team. A BCCI source shared that the meeting will happen before Team India leaves for Australia on November 10. While team performance will be reviewed, the BCCI reportedly doesn’t plan to make changes to the squad already chosen for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The source also mentioned that if India fails to qualify for the WTC final in England, it could spell trouble for Kohli, Rohit, Ashwin, and Jadeja. In that case, all four senior players might be left out of the squad for the upcoming five-Test series in England.
